The Writers Room reserves its memberships for established authors, emerging writers and those who demonstrate serious intent. We’re always looking for new, qualified members. See application requirements below and submit your application promptly for consideration.

Book Authors: Qualified applicants should be published by a reputable U.S. or foreign book publisher; be in contract for a book; or provide the Writers Room with three professional references (this may include agents, publishers, editors, teachers, and writing associates) who can speak to your commitment.

Co-Authors (including Ghostwriters): Qualified applicants must meet the same requirements as Book Authors above. 

Freelance Writers/Journalists: Qualified applicants should have published at least three works by a general circulation, trade or professional publication in the U.S. or foreign country within a 2-year period prior to application for membership. (Exceptions to these requirements are made based on individual circumstances.)

Online Writers: Qualified applicants should have published at least three online works of 500 words or more (not short blog posts) within a 2-year period prior to application for membership. The website(s) should have demonstrable traffic and editorial oversight. (Exceptions to these requirements are made based on individual circumstances.)

Screenwriters and Playwrights: Qualified applicants should have completed at least one film or play script (short films or plays are acceptable) within a 2-year period prior to application for membership. (Exceptions to these requirements are made based on individual circumstances.)
